Contemporary
Architecture. Contemporary architecture refers to the modern design style,
which is defined generally as the building style of today.
Modern Design Style.
Modern architecture generally refers to the architectural style that has
emerged from the modernization trends of the twentieth century. Some examples
of this style include the Wurundjia Style in South Africa, the Guggenheim
Museum Style in New York City and the Frank Lloyd Wright Style in Chicago. The
term can be applied to any modern style but is especially associated with the
French, German, English, Italian and Spanish styles.
Classic Architecture.
This specific style is defined more specifically as the architectural style
that emerged in the 19th century. Some examples are the Italian Renaissance,
Italian Craftsman, English Georgian and the Dutch Colonial Revival. A classic
example would be the Queen Anne House in England or the Old Court Buildings at
Delhi. A classic example would also include the Gothic style, as this style is
very common in Britain, Australia and New Zealand.
Traditional
Architecture. Traditional architecture has been defined as an architectural
style that emerged during the medieval period of Europe and the Middle East.
Some examples of this style would include the Egyptian Pyramids, the Gothic
Style, the Byzantine Style and the Japanese-Korean combination of traditional
and contemporary architecture.
Urban Architectural
Style. Urban architecture is defined as a style that evolved during the 20th
century. Examples include the Brazilian Minimalist Architecture, Japanese
Neo-Classicism, European Bauhaus, American Futurism, and the American
Postmodern Architecture.
Urban Architecture has
several benefits for a city as it creates a sense of unity and community in a
space, especially in the commercial spaces such as shopping malls, restaurants
and other business locations. It also provides a relaxed and stylish
environment to the area. As a result, a city becomes more appealing to visitors
and the local residents. The design style also promotes efficient use of space
and efficiency.
There are many
different types of modern and contemporary architecture that have emerged over
the past century. The most popular style is the American Modern Architecture
that was developed during the early part of the century and has been greatly
influenced by the Italian Futurist Architecture. The Futurist style was first
built on the foundation of earlier European Futurism and the first three
American Futurist buildings are the Eero Saarinen Park in Chicago and
Fallingwater in Pennsylvania.
The International Style
of Urban Architecture can be defined as a mixture of European and American
Modern Architecture that emerged in the 1920s and was further influenced by
British and Chinese architecture. The International style uses European
elements in a way that helps it to be unique. to blend into the surroundings,
as well as opposed to having a distinctive look that can only come from the
Futurist and American styles. It is very popular in many Asian countries such
as Tokyo, Beijing, Guangzhou and Singapore.
The Contemporary
Architecture is also known as the International Style. The Chinese influence is
also seen in this style, especially in the Chinese-influenced American style of
architecture. It blends Chinese elements with the American architecture to
create something different that is very attractive to the locals.
